In Northeastern Strasbourg, you’ll find the parc de Pourtalès surrounding a château made famous by Countess Mélanie de Pourtalès, who entertained numerous members of the European elite there in the late 19th and early 20th century.
Don’t miss :
– the château
– the sculpture park around the château
– the Forêt de la Robertsau, on the opposite side of parking lot (our favorite thing to do is go for a walk under the tunnel of leaves). A nice walk under the trees will make you happier – it’s been scientifically proven! Scientific studies have found that trees have a positive effect on our health – a walk in the forest decreases the production of stress hormones and increases that of hormones associated with pleasure and happiness (dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin…). If you’re lucky, you might spot the local herd of Highland cattle scratching themselves with their horns.
