Copenhagen: Tivoli Gardens

Built in 1843,  Tivoli Gardens is one of the world’s oldest amusement parks. Stretching over nearly 20 acres in the center of Copenhagen, its location gives it a particular charm.

The theme park offers around forty different rides and attractions, such as one of the oldest rollercoasters in the world, a tower with a free fall of over 63 meters, and a giant carousel that goes up to 80 meters above the city. There are also several activities for small children.

Whether you’re just peckish or absolutely famished, there are dozens of restaurants, snack stands, ice cream and candy floss vendors, and candy stores all over the park.

Tivoli is a wonderful blend of different moods: the enchantment of a historical amusement park , the captivating world of 1001 Nights, and the light-heartedness of a traditional fun air. A timeless bubble that lets you relive happy childhood memories.

At nightfall, the park lights up everywhere, making the atmosphere absolutely magical.

If you don’t have the Copenhagen Card, there are three different solutions to gain entry to Tivoli:

  • Entrance Pass (this fee does not cover rides and attractions). You can pay individually for the rides you are interested in.
  • Ride Pass (lets you access almost every attraction – best for those with a year-round Tivoli Pass, or for children under the age of three)
  • Entrance and Ride Pass

Prices will depend on the day of your visit: it’s least expensive from Monday to Thursday, and more expensive on weekends and on Fridays after 6 PM.

Tivoli Gardens are open from April to September, as well as for Halloween and Christmas.

I love how this famous amusement park seamlessly combines manicured gardens and roller coasters in the heart of Copenhagen. Visiting at night when thousands of twinkling lights are on display seems like a good idea, as they make it feel like being pulled from a fairytale. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

I love the look of Tivoli. I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to big rides, but the rest of my family enjoy them. This looks like a something for everyone destination. Bookmarking for future travel inspo and planning!

The great thing about Tivoli is the fact that you can pay for just the entrance if you don’t want to go on any rides! It’s a great experience anyway, you can just walk around for hours, enjoy the view, have some food…
