To start off the new year, rather than set a series of resolutions we’ll have forgotten by the 20th of January, we’ve decided we’d rather daydream a little and write a list of our travel dreams
Every new place we explore is a bubble of inspiration, energy, and temporary escape that we truly make the most of.
Travel stimulates the senses and awakens our curiosity. It never fails to take our minds as well as our bodies to an entirely different world. It makes us leave our habits behind, take a step back from our prejudices, and open up to the unknown.
We’ve already had the opportunity to discover a few of the destinations on our list, but we still have many new horizons to explore.
Soaking up the bustling energy of New York City or roaming the vast landscapes of Patagonia, delving into the cultural treasures of Asian countries like Bhutan or South Korea, seeing Prague in the snow, or enjoying a cruise on the river Nile – our Travel Bucket List is long and spans four continents. It promises a wealth of memorable experiences and enriching encounters.
And you, which destinations do you find inspiring and dream of visiting? Let us know in the comments.

We do! They were written a few years ago, but here’s the link to two. We also did a hike in Bhutan that is has two posts. https://monkeystale.ca/2018/04/05/bhutan-tigers-nest-temple-and-the-quaint-town-of-paro/ https://monkeystale.ca/2018/04/11/bhutans-majestic-royal-fortresses-and-temples/

Patagonia and Japan are on my dream list, but we are thinking Portugal for 2024. Happy New Year!

Oh nice! Whereabouts in Portugal? Lisbon, Porto, Algarve, the Douro valley?

Interesting bucket list. I’m surprised you haven’t been to London or New York.
I hope to return to South Korea later this year. My first time was in 2014. https://tripbytrip.org/grand-adventures/2014-seoul-dubai-combination/

Thanks! We have been to London but it was before we started the blog so we’ve never written about it. And we haven’t been to New York together, but separately, a long time before we met.
South Korea sounds amazing 🥰

I currently have a list on my phone of places here in France that I would like to incorporate in our local travels, something which neither time nor finances allow too much space for, but the idea to dream in these dark days is blissful.
On my local list is the dune du Pilat and the Verdon Gorge. Also, there’s a monastery in the Black Forest between here and friends somewhere beyond called Maulbronn that I would love to see if we can visit one spring evening.
On a international list, I’ve been looking at a cottage on the Ionian Islands for some island life 😊or to drive down the eastern side of Italy down to the boot heel. Anton is looking at Sicily for our summer holidays this year.
And if a girl can dream, I’d love to follow my sisters tracks in Istanbul and the Cappadoccia Valley.
Happy New Year Steph and Jerome. Happy travels in 2024!

Everything sounds utterly lovely! Although since we’re not to hot on the extreme heat Sicily will have to wait for something like… November or February.
Happy new year to all the du Plessises 😉

Thank you! Oh nice, more on the city side (Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö), or more nature (archipelago, Lapland…)?

Nature and Lapland definitely 😊

I’m looking at Seville and Cadiz. Perhaps Ghent in Belgium. Touring Ireland by rail is something I started last year and will continue. So much to do!

Oooh, all nice choices! Ghent seems absolutely stunning, and a solid alternative to Bruges.

Thanks, man! It’s an ambitious list but we’re very grateful for what we’ve already experienced. Half would still be a life very well traveled 🥰
