We start out by playing at getting lost in a side street near the Cathedral. Then we ring a doorbell and go down a flight of stairs into a dimly lit vaulted stone cellar decorated with lush greenery.
La Cabane is a bar with an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, although the 80s to 2000s playlist is a little puzzling. We’re a long way from the clichéd treehouse in the forest with the sounds of birdsong and leaves rustling in the wind, but we quicky realize that’s not what we’ve come here to find.
Having followed the thoughtful advice of one of the bartenders to make our order, watching the mixologists behind the bar put on a show while making the drinks is all part of the experience. The cocktails are refreshingly creative and well-balanced. We particularly appreciate the reusable aluminum straws.
Every cocktail is carefully composed to tell a story we’re happy to get on board with.
