Hotel Tandem is an eco-friendly boutique hotel located on place de la Gare, right next to Strasbourg Central Station, and just 5 minutes from the historical quarter of la Petite France.

The hotel’s 70 comfortable rooms are spread out over five floors in a beautifully renovated late 19th-century building built with pink sandstone from the Vosges mountains. The rooms overlook either the domed glass façade of the train station, or the hotel’s back patio. The interior follows a palette of blue, pink, and green, and pairs modern furniture with wooden details and plush carpeting.
Everything has been done to limit the environmental impact of the hotel: rooms are cleaned without using harsh chemicals, the bedding is washed with eco-friendly detergent, and key cards are made with recyclable materials. Every room is provided with a glass bottle of micro-filtered water, which can be re-filled at the water fountain in the lounge area downstairs. The breakfast buffet is composed of local, organic, and seasonal products, in order to support the local distribution network. All the cakes, brioches, and dishes are house-made.
The lounge area on the ground floor is bathed in natural light from the many large windows, while the rounded light fixtures and the climbing greenery create a cozy, contemporary atmosphere. We sit down to relax a while in the quiet library, grab a drink at the bar (the organic enoteca), or on the patio if the weather allows it.
Subtle references to the world of cycling add to the uniqueness of the hotel: a tandem bike by the entrance, headboards reminiscent of old leather bicycle seats, decorative items in the library, and the names of the different rooms – L’Échappée (Breakaway) and Tandem for single or double rooms respectively, and Poursuivants (Chasers) or Peloton for family rooms. The hotel also offers bicycle storage, as well as rental bikes and tandems so you can explore Strasbourg, the best city in France for cyclists.
We particularly enjoyed the attentive and relaxed service, the warm and modern atmosphere, the quality and comfort of the bedding, the couple of foster parakeets (budgies) in the breakfast room, all the bicycle-related details, and the clever combination of design with a strong commitment to the environment.

Looks like a great spot to stay although I’d want to straighten the paneling behind the bed haha

Haha yes that was a little disconcerting at first, especially when we were trying to make sure the photos weren’t crooked 😅
