You can access the Marne-Rhine Canal from the parc de l’Orangerie and the European institutions. Enjoy a walk, take a ride on your bike or go on a run from Strasbourg all the way to Vendenheim and beyond.

Stop a while to watch the boats go through the locks and enjoy the countryside between Hoenheim and Reichstett. If you keep an eye out, you might even spot storks or deer in the fields.

If you’ve set out from Strasbourg, take the bridge after lock No. 49. Once you’ve reached the middle of the bridge, turn around and look back – you’ll see the bell tower of Souffelweyersheim church (a village name that’ll win you lots of points at Scrabble) and the spire of Strasbourg Cathedral overlapping on the horizon, for a fleeting moment.
